Resolutions

Hey guys, 

I have never been very good at following through with New years resolutions. On New Year´s Eve I get very motivated and inspired but nothing really ever happens after that. Then I spent a considerably large amount of time feeling guilty, when I realize I wont be able to cross everything off my list before the year ends. I read a blog post over at one of my favorite blogs, Cupcakes and cashmere that touches on this subject. There Emily writes about her own resolutions and how New Year´s resolutions don´t have to be huge, seemingly inachievable ones. Sometimes   it´s better to focus on the little things that count and lead you along the path to reaching the big goals. After all isn´t  beauty in the details? I think that those who truly enjoy life, are those that find happiness in the little things of everyday life. Therefore my New Year´s resolution is to enjoy the little things, be more positive and to make an effort to be truly happy.

 Here are some the things I plan on doing to enrich my life before the year´s end:

• Go to the theater more often. 
• Fill a jar with with written notes, about one good thing that happens each day of this year. 
• Read more books 
• Spend more time with my mom 
• Spend quality time with my friends and family
• Take salsa dancing lessons 
• Visit friends that live abroad
• Exercise more frequently 
• Get better at speaking french 
• Talk more often with my family in France 
• Skype with friends that live abroad
• Bake more(need to try all those recipe books I have at some point) 
• Take more photos 
• Have friends over more often
• Plan dinner parties

.....And then I will add more little things that make me happy as time goes along. I have some big resolutions as well but I will let this be a start and share them with you later. Baby steps.

Copenhagen

 Hey guys,

I took a little trip to Denmark earlier this month  to visit some friends. It was nice to be able to get away (even if it was just a long weekend) after a jam packed summer full of work. I was travelling with another friend and we had a lot of fun checking out the nightlife, eating good food and of course, shopping! I finally managed to upload the pictures (silly me, I lost the camera cable and only after buying a card reader I discovered that my laptop has a built in card reader.... oh well) and you can expect more photo posts in the near future.

On the last day we visited Torvehallerne, which is a big indoor market with food (my heaven), all kinds of handmade products like candles and soaps. A wonderful way to end the trip as I know nothing better than on a weekend than a food market/farmer´s market.

That´s one of the reasons I love visiting my family in France: every weekend there is a farmer´s market.

There was a small cupcake bakery/café with beautiful cupcakes in all kinds of flavours.

This booth sold french confections - my favourite being their cellophane wrapped wedges of nougat, in different kinds of flavours.

I had such a wonderful time, and I only wish I could have stayed longer and taken more pictures.

My camera memory chip filled up with pictures and unfortunatly I didn´t have a backup.

Copenhagen is a wonderful place to visit, there is so much going on there and many exciting places to see.

Simple things

I can´t believe it´s already December!
 Incredible how time has flown by.  Here in Reykjavík we have the most perfect Christmas weather! White snow  that covers every surface and a lot of people have already put up Christmas lights. Downtown Reykjavík looks so beautiful  with lights everywhere and I can´t help but to get in a little bit of a Christmas- y mood.

Simple things making me happy this week :

• Knowing that after Christmas finals comes Christmas vacation.  The last couple of weeks have been completely crazy with school assignments.  I am so happy that this is finally almost over. I can´t wait until I´ve finished my exams and have time to enjoy the holiday season. In my family we have tons of little traditions and little things we do together in December, that make the Christmas season extra special.

• Rediscovering my wardrobe  I am a bit of a shopaholic,  therefore I have a lot of clothes that tend to get "lost" in my closet. I love going through my closet and rediscovering things that I haven´t worn in a while and scoring a "new" outfit.

• Hot chocolate  Winter being the perfect  time to snuggle up with a cup of something warm I have become a little obessed with trying different variations to the classic hot chocolate. peppermint cocoa anyone?



• The Christmas fleamarket on Saturday at Hitt Húsið from 13 - 16. So for my Icelandic readers: be there! It should be fun

Paris ..finally !

So Im finally here !!!
 Its so good to see  the family again ,  I cant believe its been 3 years ! Tomorrow is my grandfathers 90th birthday  and we are gonna have a big dinner with all the family. The trip here went pretty fast as I slept almost all the way through the flight,  I did not get much sleep last night as it took me forever to decide what to pack, I guess I am a little too emotionally attached to my clothes ( I must say, I am quite proud of myself. I dont think I have ever managed to pack this light!).
This summer has been all work and no play for me, so I am really looking forward to a couple of days relaxing and doing nothing. Just stuffing my face with delicious french food and catching up with family (and of course there will probably be a little shopping too). I will probably try too keep up with the posting while I´m away (although that might prove to be a little difficult as I dont have constant access to the internet) and those of you going to the  Iceland Airwaves  festival next October, keep an eye out here on the blog ;)

And yes! of course I will be stuffing my face with these lovelies for the whole entire time :D

And of course loads and loads of yummy goat´s cheese, preferably with baguette bread

.....I´ll probably be overweight when I get back home
