As promised, here are the pictures from my day trip to beautiful Siglufjörður (transl. Sailing fjord).

I spent a wonderful day there during a camping trip in August. We visited the Herring era museum, went down to the harbour, got some coffee at the very cute café Rauðka and walked around town. I love this place!

Wanted! Dior ballerina heels

These ballerina inspired platform heels are from the A/W 2012 line by Dior.  I have spotted these in a lot of magazines this fall season. So pretty!

Camping

In the middle of August I went on my first ( and last) camping trip of the summer.  We packed up the car and headed for Hólar in Hjaltadalur, my favourite spot from my childhood camping trips. From there we went sightseeing around the surrounding area.
Hólmavík was the first stop, to try out their new, super luxe swimming pool (given to the Hólmavík community by a couple of local artists) and have a look around.
Next up we visited Siglufjörður,  where I discovered that my great grandmother became a part of history when she worked there during the herring adventure. The herring adventure is an important part of Icelandic history as fishery has been a vital part of the nation´s income from the start.
I had a great time walking through the herring era museum, and delighted to learn a little more about my family heritage. This trip was a wonderful way to relax after a hectic summer at work, and I never tire of travelling this beautiful country.

Foodie friday: My foodie wishlist

Food is a huge part of my life, it is one of the things that bring me the most joy in life. I love how a good meal can bring a family together and create wonderful memories. I love the comfort food can bring, whether it is a deliciously warm soup on a cold  winter´s night or a refreshing ice cream on a warm summer's day. Maybe it has something to do with my french heritage, but I am always happiest when I am in the kitchen. Therefor I felt it was time for me to share some of the things on my foodie wish list with you guys.

Really want to buy myself this book.. and set off on the adventure of a lifetime.

I always browse through his magazine when I stop by Eymundsson´s for a coffee. Perfect British comfort food recipes

Or all her books, don´t think I would be able to pick just one. I used to watch her cooking shows all the time. I love her!  

A trip to Paris 
Paris is my all time favourite city, it feels like a second home to me. I could spend days browsing through the Fauchon gourmet shop, stuffing my face with croissants and macarons, packing a picnic consisting of cheeses, bread and fresh summer berries to spend the day at a beautiful park and last but not least my absolutely favourite thing to do in my beloved Paris is to sit down at a café and people watch with my Café au lait. Oh boy! I think it´´s time to go "home"

I want to get away..

I don´t know why but come fall I always start craving a getaway from everyday life.
 It just  seems stupid to me to leave Iceland during those precious few months when we actually have daylight, so my ideal summer is spent traveling around my beautiful country as much as possible. However my ideal fall/winter would be spent traveling to interesting cities and faraway beaches(preferrably with a cocktail in hand).
 When I start thinking about traveling my mind automatically wanders off to Paris. In my heart Paris is (and always will be) like  my second home and I discover something new each time I go there. Maybe it is because I have family roots in France or maybe this admiration of the city of love is built upon fond memories from my time spent there as a child. No matter the reason I always look forward to going back "home".
Unfortunately I have no trip to Paris planned for the near future, but in a little more than a week I will be in Copenhagen, paying a long overdue visit to some friends. Can´t wait!

I was here

So, obviously I´m not very good at this blogging thing, still I will stubbornly keep this little blog going, because even though I might not update it all that often it is comforting to know that it exists  That this blog is something that is all mine, an outlet to share the things that inspire me and bring me joy. So I hope if anyone out there has had the patience to follow my poorly updated blog, that you will stick around.
I stumbled upon this wonderful video with Beyoncé on Youtube the other day. She performed her song I was here  at the United Nations for World Humanitarian day, which was on august 19th.
 I adore this song, it carries such a beautiful message and the lyrics are so inspiring. Of course everyone wants to be remembered, to leave a mark for the world to see. It is important to remember that you don´t need a grand gesture to do something good for another person. Sometimes small, random acts of kindness can have more impact. So even though World humanitarian day has passed, I will strive to do good things for those around me in every day life, and hope to leave a footprint in the sands of time.

Home

Next sunday will be moving day. I will be moving into the most amazing apartment in the center of Reykjavík with two of my best friends.  I am soo exited and already fantasizing about how to decorate and all the things I want to do when we move in. Here are some things on my apartment wish/inspiration list

I would really love to have different sizes of  framed posters standing on the floor, up against the wall. I´ve seen that several times on interior design blogs and think it looks super cool.

I´m only half a person without a full length mirror ( Do I get bonus point for my little joke?). I  Wouldn´t mind having that chandelier either. 

- Some cool pots

I´ve started growing my own fresh basil in the windowsill of our kitchen, which is going pretty well if you take into account that I have managed to kill every single plant I have had in my 22 years. I really want to find some beautiful pots to keep the plant in and for the other ones, if I decide to try growing other kinds of herbs ( I´m thinking rosemary and mint perhaps)

I have to find a kitchen/ dining room table like this. I really like the rustic feel of a thick, worn wood table. Something that would never require any covering up. Something with personality.
